Today was my first day of real work, and I got to learn this cool program that helps you keep track of all the important information in your cases. Then I entered tons of stuff for my first attorney, Kara. I sat and stared at the screen for 5 hours, really, but I felt good b/c the first task they gave me was something I am actually able to accomplish. Hurray!
My job is great b/c everyone is super nice, particularly my supervisor, Brenda. She introduced me to everyone and many friendly people have offered to help me whenever. She also set me up to observe a hearing this week, and I even get to count it as part of my hours! She also sent out a memo to invite people to my introductory lunch for next Monday. How cool is that? I am welcome to take a day off if I need to, and I can ask forr more of the types of tasks I like once I figure out what they are. I feel very lucky. Who knows, maybe I'll even like what they do! Oh, and Roy, this older attorney there is sooo nice and I am going to get to do discovery stuff for two of his trials when he comes back from a month long vacation in February. He says I can feel free to knock on his door and ask for help. Yeah!
Meanwhile, starting to panic about my paper b/c I need a good grade and I haven't read a single case yet. Tomorrow I am supposed to turn in my outline and a little activity that I haven' even read over yet. Hmmm. This otta be interesting.
Daisy, our new old dog finally ate two full meals today. Perhaps her hunger strike is over. Topaz is enjoying having a warm body to sleep next to every night, and I am enjoying having company. So far Stephanie and I are having fun living together. No fights, and we are doing a pretty good job of keeping the dishes clean and the rest of the house somewhat orderly. It's so cute here. I love it.
